BASAS Conference 2023

We are delighted to announce that the British Association for South Asian Studies Annual Conference 2023 will take place at the University of Leeds on 3 – 5 April 2023.

Registration for the conference is now open and will close on 28th February 2023.

Conference fees will be set as follows

• Full-fee rate – £190
• Concession rate – £110

Bursaries

We are pleased to confirm that BASAS will be offering a limited number of bursaries to help with the cost of attending the 2023 conference, in addition to the subsidising of the overall concessionary rate (reducing it from £130 to £110).

Bursaries will be £250 for UK based delegates and £750 for international delegates. Delegates whose papers are accepted for the conference and who are eligible for the ‘concession’ conference rate will be able to apply. We would ask delegates with access to institutional or other sources of funding seek support from them in first instance, so that BASAS bursaries can be directed to those for whom they will be of most benefit.  

The deadline for bursary applications is Friday 27th January 2023. We hope to be able to notify people of the outcome in early February.  

Decision on the award of bursaries will be made on the basis of academic merit.
